Fast. Fun. For Every Dog.

No rosettes required. No previous experience necessary. No breed restrictions, no age cut-off, no pressure to compete. Just you, your dog, and a course that turns an ordinary session into the most fun either of you has had all week.

James & Frankie Agility Sessions are exactly what dog training should feel like — joyful.

Why Agility? Because Your Dog Deserves to Fly.

There is a particular kind of happiness that dogs experience when they're moving — really moving — through space, over obstacles, around turns, at speed, with their person cheering them on. It is uninhibited and infectious and entirely unlike anything you see in a standard training session.

Agility taps into something primal. The desire to run, to jump, to weave, to problem-solve at pace — with you as the guide and the partnership between you as the engine. It builds fitness, focus, confidence, and — perhaps most importantly — a quality of connection between dog and handler that slower, more formal training rarely produces.

And the best part? Every dog can do it.

This Isn't Competitive Agility Training.

If you want to enter Crufts, we'll point you in the right direction. But that's not what James & Frankie Agility Sessions are about.

These sessions are about your dog having the time of their life. About you laughing as they launch themselves over a jump with absolute commitment. About building the kind of joyful, fast-paced communication that makes your dog look at you like you're the best thing that's ever happened to them.

Built on the Communicative Learning Theory (CLT) framework — the James & Frankie approach that puts communication at the centre of everything — agility becomes more than exercise. It becomes a conversation at speed. Your dog reading your body, your direction, your energy. You reading theirs. A partnership expressed in movement.

What The Sessions Cover

Introduction to Equipment

Jumps, tunnels, weave poles, the A-frame, the dog walk, the seesaw — every piece of equipment introduced at your dog's pace, with confidence built before speed is ever introduced. No dog is pushed onto equipment they're not ready for.

Body Awareness & Proprioception

Before a dog can move around a course with precision, they need to understand their own body in space. We build this foundation through targeted exercises that improve coordination, balance, and physical confidence — skills that benefit your dog far beyond the agility field.

Directional Communication

The language of agility — how you use your body, your position, your movement, and your timing to guide your dog around a course without a word. This is CLT in its most physical form — pure communication between handler and dog, expressed in motion.

Sequence Building

From individual obstacles to linked sequences — building your dog's ability to read a course, respond to your direction, and maintain focus across multiple obstacles at increasing speed.

Fun Runs

Because the point is joy. Regular full-course runs that let your dog open up, find their stride, and experience the pure pleasure of moving fast with their person. This is the moment every agility session builds toward.

What's Included

✔ Individually tailored sessions — your dog's fitness, confidence, and ability assessed before we begin

✔ Progressive equipment introduction — at your dog's pace, never forced

✔ CLT-based handler coaching — you learn the body language of agility, not just the obstacles

✔ Fitness and conditioning guidance to keep your dog moving safely

✔ Suitable for all breeds and mixed breeds — small, large, young adult and older dogs all welcome

✔ Force-free throughout — agility should always be a choice your dog makes enthusiastically, not a task they're coerced through

✔ Sessions in outdoor environments across Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham

Is My Dog Ready For Agility?

Breed: Any. Agility is not just for Border Collies. Staffies, Labradors, Dachshunds, French Bulldogs, German Shepherds, Spaniels — every breed brings something different to the course and every breed can find joy in it.

Age: We work with dogs from approximately 12-14 months — when growth plates are sufficiently developed for jumping. Senior dogs can participate with appropriate modifications. If you're unsure, we'll assess your dog individually.

Experience: None required. These sessions are designed for dogs with no prior agility experience — and for owners with no idea what a serpentine is.

Fitness: We tailor the physical demands to your dog. Agility is progressive — we build fitness as part of the programme, not as a prerequisite for it.

Why Owners Across Sutton Coldfield & Birmingham Choose James & Frankie Agility Sessions

James & Frankie is a science-based, compassion-first dog training practice based in Sutton Coldfield (B74). Agility Sessions carry the same CLT framework and force-free philosophy as every other programme — because the approach doesn't change just because the activity is faster and louder.

What you get is agility training that's genuinely expert-led, individually tailored, and built around the joy of the dog in front of us. Not a conveyor belt. Not a packed group class where your dog gets lost in the noise. Personal, progressive, and properly fun.
